OK! So I'm here and everything is good! I was at the airport cargo in San Fran, by 6:05 in the morning Monday thanks to Anika! I gave Q 3 Xanex's before we left the house, and I guess they worked because I actually got him in the crate without too much effort. He had his food, a blanket, and a Glad dish, that I cut a hole in the lid in to create a rim, so it won't spill, which it did anyway. (side note: If we ever fly again, the trick is to FREEZE the water...d'uh! I found that out at the cargo terminal.) He didn't appear to be shivering and nervous, so we filled out the paper work and left. I was at the airport by 7. There was a pretty good line checking in, and I had 4 BIG BAGS. 2 were under 50 lbs, and my 2 big, BIG bags were well over. So to save me an EXTRA $100, the Hawaiian Airlines attendant(She was a sweet heart!) helped me take enough out of the over weight bags, and SQUUUEEEEZE it in the under weight bags. I had to give her my inflatable mattress and pump, but it was worth saving $100. Well in all the confusion, I forgot to mention the .357 in my bag. I had told them on the ohone when I ordered my tickets and they said they would make a note of it, and have paper work at the counter for me to fill out. They obviously made no note of it. I should have remembered though. As I was sitting, eating a muffin, drinking my juice, I was called back to the front desk. Apparently the TSA agents wanted a word with me. I had to fill out the appropriate paperwork, and then the TSA Agent gave me a hard time about getting another lock for it. So I had to run to the airport mall store and buy a $20 lock that he wound up keeping the combo to! After a little disagreement, I was on my way...by that time the plane was boarding, and I just went straight to my seat.

After that fiasco, AND the fact I was getting on a 2 ton hunk of metal, about to go over 5 hours worth of ocean, I took one of my dogs Xanex. I kinda wish I didn't. Right when I was getting into my Immortal Iron Fist Omnibus, I knocked out. I woke one time, opened one eye, and noticed the lady beside me was eating, and fell back to sleep! ($300 and I didn't even get my meal...d'Oh!) But I awoke for good right before touchdown. When we pulled to a stop, I looked out my window, and they put a conveyor belt up to the plane and down came Q's crate! The first one off the plane! As I was getting my luggage, Dave called. I met him outside, threw my luggage in his van, and we headed for the Quarantine Station.

Apparently my paper work was tip TOP, and they released Q right away! So we headed straight to the beach! It made the last 4 months all worth while just to see him playing ball on the beach! After playing for about an hour, and going by the grocery store, we went to the new home! Q loves it! He likes the elevator! He hangs out by my chair when I go swimming, we ride the bike down to Thomas Square in the morning and another little park that looks like a crater up the street. I'll post pic's later. The tree roots look like something from Yoda's planet of Dagobah. It's awesome!

but I've blown one whole day on the phone with Clearwire, resulting in NOTHING but cancelation of my clearwire service. So yesterday, I walked probably 4-5 miles shopping and went to Verizon. I had a USB modem added to my account, came home, plugged it up and VIOLA! I'm surfin' the web! I really have a lot of actual important stuffs to do, like changing addresses and what not, so I guess I'll do that now, and stop putting everything off.

But we're doing fine! Q has new friends...Mikey, a friend of Dave's, brought Q a new toy that he tore right up! He's great! And Gabe brought Jaden, his 3 year old over last night, and they got along swell! Jaden is used to pretty hyper, in-your-face dogs, and didn't quite know what to think about the chill that is Q. But he's made a new friend the other night...a 2 year old brindle Pitt/Boxer that looks JUST like his friend Lou(Jenni's dog)!

But i better get to gettin'. I'll post more later!

Oaktown is Pretty Sweet

I really dig this part of Oakland...I guess it's really called Emeryville. A section of Oakland. I take Q for a walk/bike down to a yacht club/park every morning, and the view of San Fran (or "The City") is unbelievable! When I first got to town, I was looking for a map of Oakland, and had to stop at 10, count'em 10, service stations/convenient stores, before I found a map of Oakland! They all had maps of "The City", but I was in Oakland and wanted a map of OAKLAND dagnabit! I was about to try a hotel if I hadn't finally found one at my last stop. But everything was sooo convinient, the place I had to ship my car, Horizon Lines, is probably about 3 miles, max, from where I'm staying. And now that the Bay Bridge is open again, it should be a pretty easy trip to the airport.
Where going to a local comic shop tomorrow, I'm sure it won't hold a candle to Heroes, but I gotta get my Wednesday Comics, and we're going to Oaksterdam, and probably Berkley, and end up hanging by the pool. Looking forward to it! Niki and Sara live in a retail/condo area, kind of like Birkdale, with an AMC in it. So I saw "Extract" today...pretty good...no "Office Space", or "Idocracy", but pretty good! We're going to see "Star Trek" in Imax tonight, and Hopefully I'll squeeze in "9" or "Inglorius Basterds" tomorrow, or at some point. It's just TOO convinient! Plus it's been a HUGE movie summer! Star Trek, District 9, Transformers 2, GI Joe, Wolverine, Hang Over, Up, Terminator:Salvation, G-Force, Extract, and hopefully 9 and I.B.'s soon...that's more movies this summer, than I've seen in the last 3 years. And they've actually all been pretty descent. Star Trek, by far the best. Close second:District 9.
Any-hoo, got a big weekend planned then fly to Hawaii Monday! I'll try t o keep ya up to date and post some more pic's soon!

Q is SICK of riding! I think I am too.

We left Larry's in White Oak Texas and drove 17 hours and over 1000 miles. LOOOONG day! Had a nice easy drive to the Grand Canyon, and spent lots of time and film there, timed it just perfect to see the Hoover Dam pre-sunset, then drive through the pass just as night fall was on, to see Vegas all lit up! That place is a huge sea of lights. And I could see the strip from the pass. The strip was pretty gaudy...pretty much everything that's WRONG with America all in one mile of tacky-iness. We drove straight through that craziness and stopped for the night.

The next day, we drove through Death Valley, and I don't really need to do that again. Not a bad experience, but once you've seen that much desert, the awesome-ness of it fades. I turned my AC off about half-way through just to make sure it didn't over heat. But it did fine, and we made it through. And stopped right befor egoing into Yosemite. Turns out Yosemite is NOT dog friendly AT ALL. We could only be on paved roads and trails, which turned out to just be the roads...boring...i know it was for his own safety, from coyote's and mountain lions and such, but still...BORING. So I stayed for 2 nights at the ONLY hotel in Lee Vining that had vacancy. Turns out, NONE of the hotels in that town accepted pets, and the one hotel I stopped at didn't either. Nor did they take reservations(which is the only reason why I even got a room!), but the hotel owners, grand-daughter saw Q and fell in love, so she said we could stay if he didn't bark(that just meant I couldn't watch any "Wheel of Fortune"..ya know he goes crazy when a bell rings...and angels get their wings too.) So we stayed there and explored out skirts of Yosemite, climbing rocks and hiking trails. Q LOVED IT! Mono Lake was beautiful! It hurt to leave this morning, but after a 3-4 hour ride, we were in Oakland! Oaklands a BIIIG place. But everythings good and going on schedule!
I'm going to see Oakland and San Fran this week and weekend! can't wait. I'll post again soon!

So I woke up this morning, and Larry and I had bacon biscuits on the back patio, and I took Q for a run. Then Larry took me to Uncle Sylvester's house (Ves), about 15-20 minutes away. Aunt Elaine was at work, so Ves said they'd come over when she got off. We sat and visited for a while, then it was off to Uncle James(Jim), and Aunt Sue's.We got there and visited with them for a while, and came back to the house and had a left over chicken samich!
After lunch, we went Dewey's. It was good to see him! He's the oldest brother, and when he says something, I try to listen. I guess I don't ALWAYS agree, but I ALWAYS listen. Then we went to the local comic shop, Alan's, for my Wednesday Comics and my Luke Cage Noir, and to the Pharmacy to fill a xanex script for Q. I'm going to have to drug him to get him in a crate to fly. He won't get NEAR one voluntarily, so I got those for him. I think I'm going to give him one tomorrow for that LOOONG car ride, just to see how they affect him and what dosage I should give him for the flight. As we were pulling out of the comics store parking lot, Larry saw Uncle Harry's car, pulling out of the road he lives on, so that nixed our next stop.
We went home and had some chips and spinach and artichoke dip Doris had made. Good stuff! Hung out for a while and Uncle Ves got there with Elaine! It was good to see her to! I have always really enjoyed my family, but ESPECIALLY the ones here in and around Longview for some reason! Hopefully I'll get to see their son Mark after I go through Yosemite. He lives around there somewhere. But I think their son Tommy in Visalia Ca is too south for me to see if I want to make it to Oakland by the 10th. But it was good to see them both, and after they left, I took Q for another run around the neighborhood. I need to get to bed. I WANT to make it out of Texas in one day, and hopefully farther before I stop, so I can't spend some time at the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Vegas, Detah Valley, Yosemite, etc. I got a looooooong way to go! Can't wait for the drive! When next I post, hopefully I'll have some phenomenal pic's!

After a MUCH longer trip than it should have been, I'm finally in Texas! I didn't leave Charlotte until 2:30, after dealing with the Vet, Fed Ex, the Bank, yada yada yada, I went back to Mom n Dad's and packed up, and got the heck outta Dodge!
Everything was going fine until I got to Atlanta and took I-40 EAST instead of I-40 WEST! After a good hour and a half, I figured things out and turned around! I might have been going the wrong way, but I made good time! But I gave in to the Sandman around 1:30 AM, I was about an hour past Pell City, Ga. I was having trouble keeping my eyes open, so I pulled onto the first exit ramp I saw. I found a closed KFC, let the seat back and snoozed for about an hour. Woke up and my neck was killing me, so I crawled in the back seat with Q. I slept better, but I don't think he liked it none! I woke around 5:30 and took off. I made it to the first rest stop in Miss, and stopped to throw the ball with Q, eat breakfast, brush my teeth, etc., then I was on the road again!
Made it to Vicksburg around 11:15 and stopped to eat and gas up. Went to a good sandwich shop down near the river in Historic Vicksburg. Pretty place, but it looks like it's having problems...LOTS of vacancies in "Historic Vicksburg".
I was in White Oak by 3:45. Doris made fried chicken and mashed potatoes...mmm mmmm GOOD! I took Q for a nice long run around the neighborhood, and now he's REALLY looking forward to a good nights sleep tonight!
Tomorrow Larry's taking me around to all the local brother (4 of them, there's Uncle Dewey, Jim, Ves, and Harry) and we're gonna try to squeeze a trip to the local comic shop, Allen's, I think it's called. If possible, I really want to call Amrita's parent's and get together with them, but that may be pushing it. I'll try to put up some pic's of everybody as soon as I can, and update the blog too, but I'm getting to bed EARLY tomorrow night, so I can wake up and drive Fri morning. Gonna try to get as far as possible...next stop: The GRAND CANYON! I got a long way to go, and a short time to get there, I'm west bound, just watch the Russman run!

Tomorrow, I'll be taking Q to the vet at 9:00, taking paper work from there, to the bank, to the post office for money orders, to FedEx/Kinko's to make multiple copies of EVERYTHING, send all documents to Hawaii Animal Control, go back to the vet, pick up Q, (he's getting groomed), go BACK to Mom and Dad's house, load the car, and TAKE OFF! Depending on how I feel, I think I'm just gonna try to drive straight through to Texas...I've seen the east coast, I want to get WEST!

I've had a BUSY couple of weeks, Jason and Hillary through me a party last weekend, and this weekend, Mom and Dad did. It was great to see everybody, and I'll be posting more pic's on here real soon, I promise! It's easier to load them on Facebook for me, so I may do most of them there for now. Wish me luck, and I'll keep you updated!

So I do have a few things to do today. I need to contact shipmycar.com and make sure they don't need permission to ship from my bank, and I've already done my week of work(unemployment), so I think I'll take Q for a ride.
Watched Halloween last night with Rachel...I think I jumped more than she did. Well done Mr. Zombie. Well done! Looking forward to the sequel!
Speaking of looking forward to the sequel...is one underway for "District 9" yet? AWESOME movie! The aliens need to come back in the sequel and take vengeance on us silly humans.
Of course, I'm still waiting on the sequel to "Boondock Saints" that was supposed to be underway YEARS ago. : (

Aight! So this is my blog...this is going to be the spot for all things Russman! I've never done one of these before, so bear with me. But I figure, istead of having to call Mom and update her every day, it can all be here for her AND others to peruse at your leisure. I assume I can post pics and stuffs like that, so this should be good....and I'll try to keep it all family friendly, but I can't promise nuthin'...(sorry in advance mom....and Cassie...)
I've moved out of my hot spot at 2120 Bay St. I LOVED THAT HOUSE AND THAT NEIGHBORHOOD! If I were moving ANYWHERE else besides Hawaii, I don't think I could do it. I love my friends and family, but I just couldn't pass this chance up! And Q adores Dave, I know as soon as he sees Dave and plays on the beach, he'll know these last three months were TOTALLY worth it! I firmly believe it will be! I believe it so much, I sold JUST about EVERYTHING I own! I kept 8 out of 50 something comic boxes. I sold my toys, and even had a yard sale IN the house! I had little old ladies in my kitchen at 6:30 in the morning, filling up boxes of food! I moved out of there at the end of the month and moved into Jeremy's place in NoDa.

His place was awesome! And me and Q LOVE his dogs! In fact, Q's going through withdrawls from Gyiel?sp? now. But had a lot of fun walking and biking around NoDa! Although I was never able to make it to the dog bar. : (

I'm at Danielle's house right now, through the 25th, then I'll be at my parents until the 1st. So 2 more weeks to the day, I'll be heading cross country, hopefully see some family and friends on the way, and a lot of cool spots with Q. And by the 11th of Sept., I need to drop off my car at a port in Oakland, and I'll fly out of San Fransisco on the 14th at 9:15 AM! Q has to be there at 6:15! I'm gonna have to go heavy on the valium for him. SO every day from this point forth, I'm going to try to write on how I fill my days and prepare for this grand adventure.
